Project 52 – Week 4 – Imperfection

Posted on January 27, 2012

We ooh and aah at all our children’s first experiences…..first smile, first steps, etc.  My children are past those adorable baby stages now but those “pull at your heart strings moments” never quit happening.  My son is 15 and has played his best out on the basketball court this week. He isn’t perfect but his determination, teamwork and uplifting spirit makes me just as proud as those first steps. He has used those imperfections to make himself a better player and person. I think he is perfectly imperfect and I wouldn’t have him any other way.

I had a great high school senior session with Tara yesterday. She’s a beautiful young lady with some great future goals set for her future. Good luck, Tara!

People often ask me where I find inspiration for my photographs. The best answer I can give is “I find it EVERYWHERE!”. Sometimes it will be in the most unusual places. Things like this old Atlas canning jar are such an inspiration to me. The lines, textures and colors (as well as the story it might tell) have me curious and intrigued. I found this one at a local antique store.

Along with a group of fellow photographers, I will be taking a photo every week for a year (hence the name Project 52).

This is a way to spark creativity, provide a challenge and have a collection of keepsake images from the year.

My first week was assigned the theme of “Resolutions”.  I don’t usually make resolutions so I’ll just say that I would like to take more spontaneous pictures of my family.

I just need to get sneaky and pay closer attention to what is going on around me.
